A set of porcelain espresso cups and saucers that are slip casted in pottery plaster molds. The prototype of this design is inspired by the hand thrown version of the espresso cup and saucer that Hongfan made previously. The design then was rendered using Rhino and the prototype was 3D printed.

Flow is a collection inspired by ancient Chinese landscape paintings. Clean lines, crisp edges, and subtle textures emphasize the simplicity of the design with a contemporary twist. Colors are intertwined with contemplated finish - glossy yellow, satin black, and matte white. Each piece is unique; yet when place together they present a infinite possibility of change and divergence.

This series of ceramics objects were showcased in a show "6x6" in Chicago among other 5 artists in August, 2017. Each of the object are hand thrown on the wheel with a porcelain clay body. The surface of these object has a matte or a subtle satin finish and is exposed without a sealed glaze.

Inner Dialogue was showcased at artist's BFA show at School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Fall 2017. The sculpture is presented with five hand thrown porcelain vessels. The artist investigates the notion of intention and accident in the process of art making.

This lighting installation is inspired by the idea of a fireplace and what is a fireplace represents in a contemporary domestic setting. The warmth, the coziness, and the comfort are things that a fireplace would bring to the space and this lighting installation is trying to re-present that idea.
Owning a fireplace in today world can be considered a luxury, because not everyone is lucky enough to have it as an option due to economic, geographic limitations, or perhaps eco-friendly reasons. However, Hongfan believes that it is important and necessary for each person in today's world to experience warmth and welcome when they come home after a long day at work no matter who they are and where they live.
This fireplace is formed by stacked ceramic bricks that are hollow inside. The bricks are design using Rhino initially. Then, based on the design, a mold of the prototype was modeled in Rhino and 3D printed using plastic. Pottery plaster then is poured into the plastic mold to make a prototype of the brick. Based on this plaster prototype, a two-part molds are made using pottery plaster. Finally, each individual brick is slip-casted with porcelain and finished with a matte white glaze.
